Tekla STEFANKIEWICZ
( 1880-1967 )
Born in Poland, née Mandiuk, mother of Stanislaw (below), Jan and Kazimierz. Was deported to Kazakhstan, USSR, with her family. Brought to Canada by her son. Died aged 87.
Józefa STEFANKIEWICZ
( 1910-1968 )
Born in Poland, née Wozny, wife of Stanislaw (below), mother of Romana. Deported to Kazakhstan, USSR, with her family. Returned briefly to Poland in 1946, then secretly crossed the border to join her husband serving in the Allied forces in Germany. Emigrated with her family to Canada in 1958, and devoted herself to community work in Montreal. Died at the age of 58.
Stanisław STEFANKIEWICZ
( 1906-1986 )
Born and raised in Trembowla (now in Ukraine), son of Tadeusz (below) and of Tekla (above). Pre-war, he worked as an electrotechnician. Married Jozefa Wozny, with whom he had three daughters.

In 1940 the whole family was deported by the Soviets to Kazakhstan, USSR, including Stanislaw's parents and brother. Stanislaw's father and two infant daughters died in exile. Stanislaw and his brother Kazimierz managed to join the Polish army forming under General Anders in the USSR. They were shortly evacuated to the Middle-East. After Iran, Iraq, Palestine, Syria and Egypt, Stanislaw fought in the Italian campaign including at Monte Cassino. Received numerous medals and distinctions. Transferred in 1945 to General Maczek's First Division stationed in Germany, he was reunited with his wife, mother and daughter. Demobilized in England in 1947, he brought his family to Montreal in 1958, where he became a well-known and respected member of the Polish Veterans' associations. Died at age 80.

Stanislaw's brother, fought in the 1939 campaign, died as a prisoner-of-war in Germany at the age of 28.

The twin daughters of Stanislaw and Jozefa were born and died during the family's deportation to the USSR.
Tadeusz STEFANKIEWICZ
(Upamiętniony)

( 1874-1943 )
Father of Stanislaw, deported with the family to a Kazakhstan labour camp, where he died at the age of 69.
