Jan GIEYSZTOR
( 1924-2012 )
Born in Kaunas, Lithuania, raised on his family's estate. In 1941, aged 17 was deported by the Soviets to Siberia. Escaped from the labour camp to join the newly-forming Polish army under General Anders. Sent to England to undergo military training, became a sergeant-pilot in 1945, too late for war assignments. Demobilized, Jan graduated from London's Aeronautical and Automobile Engineering College in 1951. He moved to Canada and in Montreal married Anna Babinska. They had two sons, Aleksander and Paul (below). Jan worked as an engineer in several firms, and obtained an MBA from McGill University. In 1970, he joined the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and in 1972 transferred to the department of Trade and Commerce where he remained until his retirement. In 1973, he married Krystyna Kedzierska, and they moved to Mexico in 2011. He died in Ajijic, Mexico, at age 87.
His sister, Zofia Maliszewska, lies in grave no. 65 [lot C1  644C].
Paul Stefan GIEYSZTOR
( 1962-1984 )
Son of Jan (above) and Anna Babinska. Completed high school in Ottawa, and died tragically while at university in Toronto.
His grandparents, Witold and Zofia Babinski, are buried in grave no. 3 [lot C1  003].
