Romuald BINEK

Born in Bydgoszcz, Poland, studied zoology at the University of Torun. Left Poland in 1957 and came to Montreal by sea on SS Batory. Worked in construction materials and subsequently as a consultant at Alva Craft and Bevco. Active in community projects, and aided the Solidarnosc resistance movement in Poland. Married Danuta Myszak (below), father of Ryszard. Died at age 50.
His father, Antoni Binek, is buried in grave no. 86 [lot C1 662].
Danuta BINEK

( 1933-1998 )
Born in south-eastern Poland. At age 7 was deported by the Soviets to northern Kazakhstan, together with her mother and siblings. Shortly thereafter she lost both her parents. The young orphans were taken in charge by the newly-forming Polish army under General Anders and evacuated to the Middle East. Danuta completed her secondary education in Iran, and her university studies in Beirut, Lebanon. She emigrated to Canada in 1949. Married Romuald Binek, mother of Ryszard. She was the longest-surviving dialysis patient in Montreal, dying at age 65.
