Helena Róża Ludwika SCHREIBER
born RADWAN

( 1878-1958 )
Born near Warsaw. Had one son, Adam Leliwa-Kopestynski, from her first marriage and a second son, Jan Schreiber (below) from her second marriage in 1920. In 1939, as war broke out, she made her way to France, where she lost her husband as well as her son Adam who was shot by the German Nazis. Moved to England in 1946. Emigrated to Canada in 1953 to join her son Jan Schreiber, architect and professor at McGill University. Died in Montreal at the age of 80.
Jan (John) SCHREIBER
( 1921-2002 )
Architect and professor at McGill University. Son of Aleksei and Helena Roza (above). During World War II, served in the Polish Navy, initially in Poland, subsequently in Great Britain. After demobilization, studied and graduated in Architecture from Glasgow University. Emigrated to Canada in 1948, taught at the Faculty of Architecture at McGill University and started a private practice, eventually specializing in Landscape Architecture. After gradually losing his eyesight, he spent his last years in Perth, Ontario, but is interred in Saint-Sauveur next to his mother, surrounded by the graves of many friends.
