Marian was born in Katowice. He graduated from the Warsaw Polytechnic and completed advanced studies in Music. Pianist and composer, he published columns on music including the series Transpozycje (Jazz Forum 1982, 1984). His recording Jazz carriers and his jazz compositions were known throughout Europe. Member of the Solidarność resistance movement. After the 1981 clamp-down in Poland and the declaration of martial law, Marian emigrated to Canada where he worked on behalf of Solidarność. Was a versatile and talented artist as well as a champion of freedom and justice. Died prematurely at age 35.
