Sylwester GRUSZKA

Born in central Poland, graduated in Law and Political Science from Krakow University. During World War I, served in the Austrian army, was captured by the Russians. After Poland regained its independence (1918), he enlisted in the Polish army. Participated in the organization of the Polish Foreign Service. Diplomatic postings in Italy, Yugoslavia, the USA, Germany, France, the USA again and finally Australia. Patron of the Polish community and champion of Polish interests wherever he was posted. Recipient of numerous awards including Polonia Restituta, the Golden Cross of Merit, the Commemorative Medal of the 1918-1921 war. Died in Sydney (Australia) at age 63.
