Alfons Dyzio LORENS
( 1908-1971 )
Born in Silesia, graduated in economics from universities in Vienna and Warsaw. Arrested by the German Gestapo in 1939, incarcerated in Auschwitz and Oranienbourg concentration camps until 1945. In 1948 married Alina Petrych and emigrated to Canada. In Montreal, worked inter alia for Pratt & Whitney. Longstanding member of the Board of the Polish-Canadian Congress. Father of Andrzej Ryszard. Died aged 63.
Maria LORENS
( 1902-1982 )
Sister of Alfons Lorens (above). After the Warsaw Uprising in 1944 was deported for forced labour in Germany. In 1951 emigrated to Canada with her son Alfred (below). Worked at Montreal's Royal Victoria Hospital. Died at age 80.
Alfred LORENS
( 1927-1998 )
Born in Warsaw, son of Maria (above) and Tadeusz. As a teenager, fought in the Warsaw Uprising, and was deported with his mother for forced labour in Germany. Enrolled in the US army and fought in Corea. Back in Montreal, worked for 28 years as an orderly at the Royal Victoria Hospital. Died at age 71.
